Q: What are the entrance and exit requirements for México?
A: Entrance into México requires a valid passport. If you do not have a valid passport at the time of entry, you will not be permitted to board your initial flight. Your passport must remain valid throughout the duration of your stay. We recommend your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your travel dates to ensure no issues.
Re-entry into the U.S. will require both proof of citizenship and verification of identity, so keep your passport safe at all times while in México. You will also be required to go through Immigration Customs upon entering the U.S., even if you only have a layover. Customs inspectors are authorized to examine and search your luggage.
Q: I am traveling from Central America. Do I need a visa to enter México for this trip?
A: Guests from El Salvador, Guatemala, and Nicaragua must obtain an Embassy Visa before traveling. Both you and your guest must have visas that correspond to the name in your passport and on your airline ticket. Please be sure your guest can obtain a visa before you invite them on the trip. You will not be able to change your guest's name after registering.
Q: If my guest can no longer attend, can I substitute their name?
A: To ensure a seamless travel experience, once the registration form is submitted, guest names are final and cannot be changed or substituted due to air travel regulations. Please ensure that your guest’s name is entered exactly as it appears on their passport.
Q: How many bags can I bring?
A: For most airlines, each passenger is allowed two carry-on pieces of luggage; a purse or backpack will count as one of these two items. The policy for complimentary checked baggage varies for each airline. Please check the website for your specific airline regarding the baggage allowance.
Q: What is the TSA Policy on liquids and medications?
A: Liquids, gels, and creams are not allowed in carry-on luggage unless each individual container is less than 3 ounces and all containers are in a clear, 1-quart, plastic zip-top bag. Each passenger is allowed one 1-quart bag. You will be required to remove this plastic bag from your carry-on at the security checkpoint unless you have TSA PreCheck® access. Prescription medications in original containers are allowed in quantities exceeding (3) three ounces and are not required to be in the zip-top bag. Declare these items for inspection at the TSA checkpoint. Pack all medication and valuables in your carry-on luggage. Please keep all medications, prescription or over-the-counter, in original, labeled containers.
Q: What is the attire?
A: Casual cool, comfortable attire is suggested for all daytime activities. Shorts, sandals, bathing suits and cover-ups are acceptable. Swim coverups/shirts and shoes are required around the resort when not at the pool or the beach. Resort Casual is appropriate for evenings.
- Men: pants, nice jeans, or nice shorts and a collared or button-down shirt. Flip flops and ball caps are not acceptable for indoor evening dining. Long pants may be required for select restaurants.
- Women: sundresses, jumpsuits, skirts, nice shorts or pants and flats or wedges. A light sweater or jacket may be needed in the evenings as it tends to be cool once the sun sets, especially by the water.
Q: What is the exchange rate in México?
A: The currency in México is the peso. The peso is currently about 20 pesos to one U.S. dollar. U.S. dollars are widely accepted, but you may receive change in Mexican pesos. Your local currency can be exchanged in your home city, at the airport, or at the resort. You should travel with a variety of small bills including $1s, $5s, and $10s. It is not recommended to travel with bills larger than $20.
Q: Will I be able to use my phone in Riviera Nayarit?
A: Complimentary internet is provided by the hotel. Login instructions will be provided at check-in. While you will likely have cell phone service during your stay in México, the charges per minute can be very expensive if you do not have an international cellular plan. If you plan to use your cell phone, you may need to pre-purchase an international package from your carrier if you do not have one already. Check with your carrier to understand what coverage may be included in your cellular and data plan or can be purchased for México.
